Scope 3 explained
The terms your board will start asking about.
A short, jargon-free glossary of the UK ESG vocabulary you'll meet this year.
- Scope 1 emissions
- Direct emissions from sources you own or control (e.g. company vehicles, on-site combustion). Usually a small fraction of UK businesses' total footprint.
- Scope 2 emissions
- Indirect emissions from purchased electricity, heating, cooling. Often easier to measure but limited as a lever.
- Scope 3 emissions
- All other indirect emissions across your value chain, most importantly your suppliers. Typically 70 to 90% of a UK manufacturer's footprint. The hardest to measure, the biggest to reduce.
- SECR
- Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting. The UK requirement for large companies and LLPs to report energy use and emissions in their annual report.
- TCFD
- Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures. Recommendations now mandatory for UK premium-listed companies and many large UK-registered companies.
- Carbon offset claim
- A claim against a verified emissions-reduction project. Each unit of carbon should only be counted once, and Supplio enforces this with a serial-fingerprint register.

What is supplier relationship management software?
Supplier relationship management software, often shortened to SRM, is the system you use to manage every supplier in one place: onboarding, compliance documents, risk, contracts, performance and Scope 3 carbon. Supplio brings all of that into one UK-built platform, with a free portal for your suppliers and pricing published in plain GBP.
Is there a free trial?
No, we don't offer free trials. Customers tell us that "trial mode" products feel half-built, and we'd rather give you the real thing on day one. If Supplio genuinely isn't working for your team in the first month, contact UK sales and we'll sort it out.
How does the pricing work?
Each plan is billed annually in GBP. While we're below the HMRC VAT-registration threshold we don't charge VAT, so the price you see is the price you pay. Every plan includes a generous allowance of users and supplier profiles. Need more? Extra users and supplier seats are clearly priced (from £15 to £10 per user a month, and £2 to £1 per supplier a month, depending on plan), with no surprise overages. Your finance team will appreciate that.
Is Supplio built for the UK?
Yes. Supplio is built in the UK for UK procurement, ESG and operations teams. Pricing is in GBP with no hidden fees, support runs in UK business hours, and we follow UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Dedicated infrastructure options and specific data-residency arrangements are available on Enterprise. Talk to UK Sales.
Can my suppliers use it without paying?
Yes. Suppliers get a free, branded portal where they can self-serve their data, upload documents, accept your terms and submit Scope 3 disclosures. You only pay for your own team and the supplier profiles you actively manage.
Does Supplio handle Scope 3 carbon reporting?
Yes, and it's one of our biggest differentiators. You can capture lifecycle CO₂ on every catalogue line, model emissions where supplier data is missing, manage supplier offset claims through a review queue, and export ESG-grade reports as CSV or PDF. SECR and TCFD-ready out of the box.
How do I switch from spreadsheets or a competitor?
You can be live in your workspace within minutes. Teams moving off spreadsheets typically reach full operational rollout in two to four weeks. We provide a CSV bulk-import for suppliers, plus guided onboarding for products, documents and CO₂ data. On the Scale and Enterprise plans you get a dedicated UK account manager who runs the migration for you.
What about security and data residency?
Supplio uses encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest, role-based access, and an immutable audit log. Dedicated infrastructure options, single sign-on and specific data-residency arrangements are available on the Enterprise plan. Talk to UK Sales about your identity provider, and we're happy to share our security pack with prospective customers.
